For all those looking for a new broker, TastyWorks launched today. You can not open an account as they grind through the transition. Yes it is new and it will have issues, but TastyTrade is one of the few places that has legit research and they charge nothing.

 Commission schedule:
 1. No charge for closing trades
 2. Options opening trades is $1.00 per contract (they specialize in options)
 3. Stock opening trades is $5.00 for unlimited shares
 4. Futures opening trades will be $2.50 per contract

Portfolio margin and futures trading coming later this year.

I am not affiliated with TastyWorks or TastyTrade. Just a firm advocate of their work.

Thank you. For regular equities, is that $5 per round trip?

Yes. No commission on closing trades. So you pay to get in not to get out. My understanding.

Yes. Not that it matters, but he was talking how they have pulled apart the quoting and the interface subsystems and the quotes are stupid fast.

Fills are fast. What will be interesting to see is shorting. I use TDA and the IB guys always seemed to get filled on shorts on HTB stocks.

I use TD in Canada to short ... they don't have the inventory of stocks that IB has to short ... but there are no borrow fees charged. So yes, there appears to be more stocks available at IB, but at a cost. If I cannot borrow through my broker, I typically sell a deep in the money call if the stock has options. This has always worked very well.

TD Canada is expensive, ditched them for Questrade, will cost you $10 for round trip.
