The list above is what I track - mostly the Proshares 2x ETfs, but also GLD/SLV, oil. the major sector indices, and about every index I can find on SF right now.

I look at the major indices using the weekly MACD(2,3,9), as well as the individual ETFs. The signals should be in sync, but occasionally the individual ETF is trading out of sync with the index - need to watch out for that.

As of 7/24 trade signals were as follows (all positive except for the US Dollar):

 INDEX MACD
 ^SPX 8.94
 ^OEX 3.82
 ^MID 6.73
 ^IXIC 16.44
 ^NDX 14.78
 ^DJI 88.50
 ^DJT 41.49
 ^DJU 3.08
 ^RUA 5.37

 XLB 0.45
 XLE 0.67
 XLF 0.10
 XLI 0.26
 XLK 0.17
 XLP 0.15
 XLV 0.22
 XLY 0.29

 ^TNX 0.02
 ^TYX 0.02
 ^DXY -0.04

 GLD 0.33
 ^GOX 1.72
 SLV 0.10
 ^XAU 1.49

 ^OIX 7.64
 ^XNG 6.40
 ^CRB 1.04

I have been trading commodities lately through these ETFs, and here's where I am so far based on MACD entry and 10% trailing stop exits:

 OIL:
Bought DXO at 4.08, sold at 4.55 (late entry here, should have been in on 5/8 at 3.44)
Then bought DTO at 72.91, sold at 92.00
recently bought DXO again at 4.03 (currently at 4.57)

 SILVER:
Bought ZSL at 8.68, sold at 9.55 (late entry, should have been in on 6/8 at 7.95)
then bought AGQ at 39.38 (currently at 41.76)

 GOLD:
Bought GLL at 15.34, sold at 15.34 (late entry, should have been in on 6/8 at 14.65)
Bought UGL at 33.93 (currently at 34.79)

 COMMODITY "BASKET"
Bought UCD at 21.91 (currently at 22.96)

  kevin,

thank you very much and now questions

i had been thinking about what else can we do to improve and stay away from unecessary trades.

 1. do you wait for weekly to crossover, then it would be a friday tradeonly. In one of your post you said you dont do that.

here is the code i am coming up with

show stocks where the weekly MACD Histogram(2,3,9) crossed above 0
and weekly MACD Histogram(2,3,9) one day ago below 0
 and close is above 1
 and draw weekly MACD(2,3,9)
SYMLIST(IBB,GLD,OIL,XLE,RTH,PPA,SLX,UYG,IGM,KWT,DBC,XHB,UNG,XME,IYH,IYC,EXB,KBE,QID, DXD, SDS, MZZ, SDD, TWM, SJF, SFK, SJL, SDK, SJH, SKK, EFU, EEV, EWV, FXP)

Since you are using a symbol list, you probably do not need to screen by "close above 1"

Also, I would add in the 2x long counterparts - SSO is just as good a trade as SDS (lately, it is a MUCH better trade). I would also include DXO and DTO for your oil trades, rather than OIL or USO/USL. Take advantage of the leverage on it, just keep your stops updated.

I have all of my stocks in a watchlist that calculates the weekly MACD(2,3). I download it each night into an Excel spreadsheet that tracks all of these (both short and long) and gives me a visual signal as to when to enter.

I also look a where a stock is trading relative to its BB(12,0.5). I like to see that a stock has moved from below the BB envelope to above it as the MACD signal says to enter.

Hmm ... when I run this filter, it doesn't give you stocks that crossed above zero one day ago. Looks like they crossed over earlier in the week. Syntax look right - not sure what is going on here.

My approach of downloading each night does not have this issue.

  Hi
The weekly part of your screen is the problem.
If I understand it right the weekly is really only the Fridays data used.
I got into trouble using the weekly screen before.

 See ya
 David
